Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) acknowledges that people can achieve competence in a variety of ways including formal training, previous life and work experience. RPL is the process where prior work history, life experience and formal or informal learning are measured against the qualification. If the previous learning is relevant to the course, you may not need to complete certain units of competency.
Some benefits of the RPL process is that it can take less time for you to gain the qualification. You will avoid having to study the same unit twice and it may help you gain entry into a higher qualification.
If you think your prior learning and experience shows that you are proficient in that unit you can apply for RPL and have your evidence assessed by the trainer/assessor.
For further inquiries about the RPL process, please contact the training department at CETS.
This course focuses on workplace learning where on the job performance forms part of each assessment. CETS recognises the importance of learning in the workplace and being able to transfer the knowledge learnt in class to skills on the job.
This method provides benefits to the employer, by having a proficient and motivated worker, and the student, by providing them with opportunities to improve their problem solving & technical skills and increase their adaptability & performance at work.
