50 years ago we were a small band of parents and friends seeking support services for our children with disabilities.

In 50 years, Challenge Disability Services has grown to be one of the largest intellectual disability support services outside metropolitan Australia.

Today we provide over 600 client services for people with a disability across the North West, Central West, New England and Hunter regions of NSW. We have established various services for people with a disability including; Residential, Day Programs, Respite and Employment Services in these areas.

Challenge Disability Services commenced in Tamworth in 1958 as the Tamworth and District Handicapped Children’s Association. As a parent driven organisation Challenge relied heavily on the goodwill of the community to build its first school and day activity centre.

With over 400 staff, 125 of which have a disability, providing support services, Challenge Disability Services strives to comply with and exceed all standards required under State and Federal Disability Services Acts.
